Micro and small enterprises present special challenges in achieving healthier and safer workplaces. Restricted time and resources are frequently highlighted as a barrier to adopting a proactive approach to health and safety management. Moreover, such enterprises may experience difficulty in complying with occupational health and safety legislation and tend to underestimate the risks posed by their workplaces.

“Ideas for a better Europe” will be pooled by around five thousand young Europeans at a three-day European Youth Event (EYE) at the European Parliament in Strasbourg, France, on 9-11 May. Over 200 debates and workshops will enable 16-30 year-olds to air policy issues close to their hearts. Over half of Europe’s young people feel excluded from its economic and social life, says a recent Eurobarometer poll.
